Purveyors of audio-visual goodness, Bang and Olufsen has decided to get into the 3D game with the latest version of its BeoVision 7 55in TV.

With 3D the big thing in TVs at the moment (for better or worse), it was always going to be a matter of time before the high-end premium manufacturer got into the game.

Not only has B&O added 3D, it has also packed in an integrated Blu-ray player which increases the amount of 3D content you’ll be able to view on your large 55in screen.

The BeoVision 7 has been the company’s best selling TV with 130,000 units being sold since launching in 2004. The LCD screen in BeoVision 7-55 is based on new direct-type LED-backlight with local dimming for greater contrast. To view the 3D content you will need to slap on a pair of active shutter glasses, though it's unclear how many, if any, of these will ship with the TV.

The TV set also comes with B&O’s beam shaped loudspeaker below the screen which uses the company’s patented acoustic lens technology to adapt the sound to the room the TV is in.

“I am excited that we are now able to offer our customers an upgraded BeoVision 7 experience which also allows for 3D viewing. Many of our BeoVision 7 customers have asked for this and now it is here”, says Bang & Olufsen’s CEO, Tue Mantoni.

We are waiting to hear back from Bang & Olufsen regarding UK pricing and release date and we'll let you know as soon as we do. For now you can check out the video below to get a better idea of what the BeoVision 7-55 will look in your front room with 3D and Blu-ray now included.

Update: Those lovely people from Bang & Olufsen have been back in touch and told us the BeoVision 7-55 3D is available to pre-order this week from any of its stores. Regarding price, B&O gave us the RRP of a recommended package which would include the BeoVision 7-55 3D, a motorised floor stand, BeoLab 7-6 (horizontal stereo loudspeaker), Beo6 cutomisable remote control and one pair of 3D glasses and will set you back £16,970 - which probably isn't as good value as the £49 HP Pre 3 but then again what is.
