A brand new mobile VR headset, known as the Auravisor, just launched on Kickstarter and it’s a little different to the rest.
There are a tonne of Google Cardboard-esque mobile VR headsets on the market, but the Auravisor is trying to set itself apart from the competition.
And it’s doing that by making sure you don’t need to waste your smartphone battery in order to use it.
Instead, the Auravisor has it’s own technology built into the headset, powered by the Android platform – making it familiar and easy to use.
It’s got a single 5-inch 1,920 x 1,080p full HD resolution display that you view through a pair of adjustable lenses, all powered by an unknown quad-core processor.
The VR headset comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built in, with a Bluetooth controller coming bundled in the box with the headset – unlike rival headsets such as the Homido or the Noon VR. Plus, along with 16GB of internal storage, there’s also a microSD card slot for additional content.
What’s great about the fact the Auravisor has it’s own on-board computer is that it’s totally wireless and it comes pre-installed with content providers such as Netflix, Sky Go, Chrome, BBC iPlayer and more.

The company behind it has also made sure that the Google Play store has been tailored entirely to VR content. That means no faffing around trying to find compatible content.
Auravisor also has some navigational buttons along the bottom of the headset, meaning you can always get to where you want to go. There’s a D-Pad, bakc button, a reset and menu button, a power button and volume controls.
You can also feed through visual feeds from other sources via the ports along the top of the headset.
