Asus has started rolling out the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 updates for the Transformer Pad 300. North America is the first territory to get the new software, but we can’t be too far behind.
Asus confirmed on its Facebook page that the Transformer Pad 300 update was underway. Asus said, “We are pleased to announce that we will be rolling out a major software update for the Asus Transformer Pad TF300, which will bring Android 4.1, Jelly Bean to the device for the first time in North America.”
The Android Jelly Bean 4.1 software is being distributed over the air, so once it arrives here you won’t have to partake in any complicated sync procedures. Jelly Bean introduces a fistful of improvements and new features. Our top picks include the advanced voice search, which works a bit like the iPhone 4S’s Siri, and the effects of Project Butter. This project makes much better use of a tablet’s CPU, keeping Android running much more quickly. Smooth as butter – geddit?
Asus says that other Transformer models, including the Transformer Prime, are set to get the upgrade to Android Jelly Bean 4.1, although exact timings have not been announced. If you’re stateside and already have the update installed, drop us a comment on how it runs below.
