Asus to launch new PadFone Infinity on September 17

Asus has confirmed that it will be launching the new PadFone Infinity at a dedicated event in Taipei next Tuesday, September 17.

The media have started receiving invites to the new PadFone Infinity event next week, which will be hosted by Asus CEO Jerry Shen.

The new Padfone Infinity teaser trailer was also launched by the Taiwanese manufacturer. Although it is only eight seconds long, you can see the smartphone leaving the orbit of its tablet counterpart in the space-themed teaser trailer.

From the video we can also see that the new Padfone Infinity will bear a striking resemblance to the current model, but will also come with a white iteration.

Specs-wise, all we know so far is that the tablet and smartphone duo will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a microSD card slot for expandable storage options.

Asus PadFone Infinity Features
Currently the Asus PadFone Infinity has a 5-inch Full 1080p HD display smartphone that docks into a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200p Full HD resolution tablet.

Both are powered by the smartphone itself, which ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 320 GPU.

In the rear, the smartphone has a 13-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 5-element lens and a 2-megapixel f/2.0 snapper. The tablet uses the smartphone’s rear camera but has a 1-megapixel front-facing camera of its own.

Offering a micro USB 2.0 port, ambient light-sensor and an e-compass, the tablet also boosts the third generation SonicMaster audio technology in the smartphone via its 80mm diameter speaker.

The smartphone has a 19hour talk time battery life, which is more than doubled to 40 hours when the two devices are docked. The tablet is also capable of charging the smartphone up to three times over on a single charge, negating the need for another charger in your bag during the day.

It will be interesting to see which of the above features get an upgrade when the new PadFone Infinity launches on Tuesday, September 17.
