What next? Eee lunch box? Eee bread maker?
My oh my, whatever has the ‘Eee’ brand started…
Following its diversification into low cost desktop PCs, monitors and even mooted TVs it has now been revealed that Asus is looking at an Eee mobile phone and possibly mirror!
Speaking to the New York Times, Asus chairman Jonney Shih explained: “To make the whole digital home possible, in the eventual state every wall becomes a display. The mirror should become a screen… because you want to blend it into your life. You already watch the mirror.” And tying them altogether? “That Eee phone may become an interactive control,” he explained. “The whole digital network is the key.”
That’s quite something to just drop out there and it is frustrating the NYT didn’t push for anything more on this – especially given Asus’ reported passion for Android. Besides which, if you’re going to produce a low cost smartphone what better OS is there to choose than one which requires no royalty payments?
That said, this is all the information we have on such a development at this stage but given Asus’ seeming determination to dilute its Eee brand into oblivion this does seem par for the course. In traditional Eee style, expect developments sooner than you might imagine…
