Asus Android Wear watch to have curved display

Asus has revealed another teaser for the Asus Android Wear smartwatch, revealing it will have a curved display.

Following the first teaser earlier this month, Asus has posted a few drawings of its upcoming wearable on social media sites.

We previously didn’t know much about the Android Wear watch coming from Asus, but the company is teasing us with a few details ahead of its IFA 2014 unveiling next week.

“Here is a glimpse of #ASUSwearable, which will be one of the highlights at #IFA2014 in Berlin”, reads the Google Plus picture caption.

In the concept art that you can see above, Asus has clearly confirmed that its smartwatch will have a rounded rectangular face set in a slightly curved body. No doubt that is an attempt to get the watch to follow the natural curves of the wearer’s wrist.

Sadly we can’t quite work out what it says in the illegible scrawl around the drawings, so it’s near impossible to find out any other details about the Android Wear watch.

Previous rumours suggested that the Asus wearable will have an AMOLED display and launch with a more affordable price tag.

The price for the Asus Android Wear device will apparently lie between $99 and $149, which equates to somewhere between the £60 – £90 mark. The current Android devices are $229 or £159.99 for the LG G Watch and $199.99 or £169.99 for the Samsung Gear Live.

If the rumours are correct, the Asus watch would be the cheapest Android Wear watch on the market.

This was echoed by Asus CEO Jerry Shen earlier this year, as he claimed the Asus smartwatch “looks better than competitors’ products but comes with a relatively low price tag.”

The Asus smartwatch will be launch at IFA 2014 in Berlin next week on September 3. The TrustedReviews team will be on hand to bring you all the latest from the show floor.
