Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag gameplay trailer revealed alongside Collector’s Editions

Ubisoft has released the first official Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag gameplay trailer, which shows Edward Kenway’s naval adventures.

The trailer shows Kenway’s various ports of call along his story, including Havana, Kingston and “unchartered islands”, as well as the main feature of the new game – open sea exploration.

Kenway is seen sneaking along the beach alongside an enemy camp, battling sharks underwater, captaining his ship, The Jackdaw, and its crew through nautical battles and discovering lost sunken treasure troves.

The series’ classic face-to-face assassinations, along with rooftop meanderings and swan dives from various precipices are all still there too, but far overshadowed by the new features of this pirating adventure.

Five Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Collector’s Editions have also been unveiled by Ubisoft. One is exclusively for Northern American markets, but four will be available to British fans of the series.

The first, and by far the biggest booty, is The Black Chest Edition, only available from the Ubisoft Uplay store. The limited edition collector’s pack comes with a 55cm diorama of Kenway on the Jackdaw, a SteelBook, artbook, soundtrack, a duo of lithographs, two canvas prints, access to all Assassin’s Creed 4 DLC, a collector’s box, a parchment version of the in-game world map and a Black Flag replica.

The Buccaneer Edition, the Game and Gamestop Collector’s Edition, offers the same bundle of goodies, except it replaces the diorama with an Edward Kenway figurine and lacks the SteelBook, prints, map and flag.

The smallest Collector’s Edition is the Skull Edition available from a variety of retailers. It includes a Collector Jumbo Steel Case, artbook, soundtrack, lithographs and unlockable in-game content.

Anyone not wanting to buy into the full Collector’s Editions can opt for the Special Edition that provides the exclusive codes for DLC only available at launch.

Ubisoft also announced it would be launching The Watch, which is a VIP program part of a pre-order bonus offering access to further features within the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag world. Like the RockStar All Access Pass, The Watch subscribers can enjoy additional content, rewards, unique quests and information that normal gamers won’t be able to enjoy.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will launch in the UK on November 1 on the Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii U, PC and the next-generation PS4 and Xbox 720 consoles, once the latter is unveiled.
