Apple will livestream its event on 16 October

Apple has confirmed it will livestream its event on 16 October, where it is widely expected to launch its new iPad.

That means you’ll be able to watch the event live, as Apple shows off what’s new. Providing the livestream works, that is.

The stream for the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus was a complete disaster. It kept breaking up, leaving eager viewers to turn to Twitter to find out what was happening.

Hopefully this one will be more successful.

Head to apple.com/live, and you’ll see a note that reads: “Join us here at apple.com/live on October 16 at 10 a.m. PDT to watch our special event live.”

The event kicks off at 6pm UK time.

Apple is expected to launch the iPad Air 2, a new iPad Mini, and possibly some new Macs. We’re also expecting more news on OS X Yosemite, and possibly a further showcase of the Apple Watch.

We could be in for a higher-resolution screen on the new iPads. One developer recently uncovered image files in the iOS 8.1 beta that are 3x versions of the iPad’s UI, suggesting a higher-resolution display could be in order.

The Cupertino company could launch a bigger iPad, too. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro has been rumoured for a while now, though the latest word to reach us said that it won’t be unveiled until next year due to a delay in the production process.

We’ll be covering the Apple event, so check back here at 6pm on Thursday for all the news as it happens.
