Today is Apple's 40th birthday. Yes, the company that released the Mac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, iMac and MacBook was formed 40 years ago today.
It's obviously come a long way since the late Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne first started working out of a garage in Los Altos, California. In fact, Apple CEO Tim Cook recently announced more than 1 billion Apple devices are in use around the world.
Whether this advert has anything to do with Apple's birthday, we don't know. But it's coincidental timing if not. It's for Apple Music, and stars one Taylor Swift. Yes, the same Taylor Swift who originally withheld her music from Apple's streaming service in a dispute over royalty payments. Thankfully that's all water under the bridge now.
We see Swifty preparing for a run on the treadmill (though she's looking typically glamorous). She picks a playlist on Apple Music called #Gymflow, and starts a song called Jumpman by Drake. Everything's going fine, she's singing along while running, until she starts dancing a little too enthusiastically and falls flat on her face.
But Apple's not the only tech firm to release an ad starring a big name recently. LG's advert for the G5 smartphone features none other than Jason Statham. Numerous Jason Stathams, in fact.
To celebrate the fact you can swap out modules in the G5, LG has imagined a world populated solely by Stathams – babies, women, everyone has the fizzog of the Stath. We're not sure what that has to do with modules, but there you are.

Oh, and don't go thinking – as the ad would have you believe – that you can swap in a new module and use it straight away. In reality, taking a module out removes the battery, so you have to wait for the phone to start back before you can use it again. Which is something of a Swiftian face-plant from LG.
