Following the recent introduction of the company’s latest all-in-one computer, new reports have suggested Apple will introduce a new ‘budget’ iMac in 2014.
With the Cupertino-based company having launched its first cut price smartphone last month in the form of the plastic clad iPhone 5C, industry analysts have now predicted that a ‘budget’ iMac is on the cards for next year. It has been suggested that a more affordable iMac would help Apple further increase its market share of the desktop scene.
Adding to the ever revolving Apple rumour mill, KGI Securities analyst and reputable Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo has stated in a note to investors that
One of Apple’s most premium of products, current iMac models start at a lofty £1,149 for the entry level 21.5-inch model, rising to a wallet-bashing £1,749 for the top spec 27-inch option. Although Kuo has failed to offer any detailed pricing on the mooted ‘budget’ iMac, it is believed a more affordable option would hit retailers under the £1,000 marker.
According to Kuo’s predictions, the introduction of a budget iMac would see sales of the all-in-one range given a 10 to 20 per cent annual boost.
Apple updated its iMac line just last month with both the 21.5-inch and 27-inch bumped up to the latest Intel Haswell processors and GeForce 700-series graphics.
As well as discussing an as yet unconfirmed budget iMac, Kuo’s latest investors note has made reference to a third-generation iPad mini.
With the iPad mini 2 not expected to be unveiled until October 22, Kuo has claimed that an iPad mini 3 will touch down in 2014 alongside an iPad 6 tablet which will move on to a more detailed display than the current Retina offerings.
