Reports on Monday have suggested Apple’s Siri assistant will soon be receiving a huge upgrade, thanks to some UK-based tech.
According to the report, VocalIQ’s natural language skills will help put Siri beyond Amazon Alexa, Google Now and Microsoft’s Cortana.
The report says the upgrade will give Siri the ability to handle more natural, long and complicated commands.
The report says:
“For example, imagine asking a computer to “Find a nearby Chinese restaurant with open parking and WiFi that’s kid-friendly.” That’d trip up most assistants, but VocalIQ could handle it. The result? VocalIQ’s success rate was over 90%, while Google Now, Siri, and Cortana were only successful about 20% of the time, according to one source.”

According to the report, if a user decided to change the query to a ‘Mexican restaurant,’ VocalIQ would be capable of remembering the other parameters.
The sources also say VocalIQ is able to filter out external noise to make it easier for users to make themselves heard.
It’s possible a new and improved Siri could also be the centrepiece of the rumoured new smart home device Apple is plotting.
Reports have suggested it could be an Amazon Echo competitor or a new Apple TV device. Recent speculation has suggested Apple may also open Siri up to third-party developers.
