More reports have emerged concerning Apple’s plans for iTunes and Beats, and it seems they could have a shared future.
We’ve known that Apple was planning something new and different from its current, declining iTunes MP3 store service ever since it purchased Beats last year.
Now a Business Insider report has produced some more details to fill us in on what the new service might look like.
Perhaps the two biggest things to draw from the report are that there will not be a distinct Apple streaming service running separately from iTunes, and Beats Music will not continue under its current branding.
Rather, Apple intends to relaunch iTunes with a new emphasis on streaming music instead of paying for downloads.
Another point that’s clarified in this report is Apple’s recent hiring of former BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. He is apparently the “mastermind” behind the new iTunes service’s curated element.

Apple is also said to be in talks with prominent musicians over providing their own custom radio station streams. Indeed, it is “someone who has knowledge of the talks currently taking place between Apple and musicians” that has provided this new information.
It also emerged this week that Apple had put out an ad for a London-based music journalist, which it wants to manage a team of freelancers in producing editorial content for the company’s new streaming service.
