Apple Music wins indie label support after Swift fiasco
Two leading indie music groups are now on board with Apple Music, Apple’s new music streaming service.
The iPhone maker previously found itself at odds with indie groups after refusing to pay labels and artists during the three-month free trial of Apple Music.
However, Apple reversed this decision on Monday after being publicly criticised by musician Taylor Swift, and will now pay music artists during the free trial.
Beggars Group is one such firm that has now reached an agreement with Apple over the streaming platform, as reported by Billboard.
The company manages a host of indie labels, covering artists like Adele, Basement Jaxx, and Radiohead.

Apple has also won over digital rights group Merlin, which looks after upwards of 20,000 indie record labels.
“Apple has made a decision to pay for all usage of Apple Music under the free trials on a per-play basis, as well as to modify a number of other terms that members had been communicating directly with Apple about,” explained Merlin’s chief executive, Charles Caldas.
He added: “With these changes, we are happy to support the deal.”
Caldas also revealed that individual labels within the group would still have final say as to whether they will join the service.
Apple announced Apple Music earlier this month at the company’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference.
Apple Music is due to launch on June 30, although it will face stiff competition from rivals like market leader Spotify, and the now subscription-free Google Play Music.
