Apple Mac Pro 2013 refresh coming spring says retailer

Apple is preparing a new Mac Pro 2013 release for spring this year, according to French Apple reseller, France Systemes.

The 17 year-old company announced in a newsletter to its customers that Apple had confirmed the European Mac Pro termination due to new regulatory standards would only be temporary with a revised Mac Pro 2013 due in the coming months.

“We believe that the shutdown of the Mac Pro is temporary,” the officially licensed Apple reseller said. “Apple informs us that a new Mac Pro will be released in spring 2013.”

The news follows Apple’s announcement last month that it would not be selling the Mac Pro in Europe after March 1 2013, as the model no longer conforms to new incoming safety regulations. The issue was due to the large fans within the system being too unprotected, making it possible for someone to touch the rotating blades.

Apple is honouring any orders made before February 18 of the Mac Pro with delivery before March 1. It has stated it believes the Mac Pro to be a very reliable and safe product.

If the France Systemes newsletter is correct, the 2013 redesigning of the Mac Pro would be the first major overhaul for the professional system since 2010.

Mac Pro Features
Popular with designers, film makers, photographers and other creative types, the Mac Pro was given an unexpected revamp after Apple’s WWDC event last June.

Available in quad-core and 12-core Intel Xeon processor models with 2.4GHz to 3.33GHz system options, the professional desktop offers up to 64GB of RAM and powerful ATI Radeon HD graphics with 1GB memory.

Ultra-fast solid state drive options make the Mac Pro offer incredible performance for even the most complicated tasks, including up to 2.5x faster video encoding in comparison to hard drives.

The easily accessible interior, possibly a contributor to its non-compliance with new safety standards, makes it possible for the user to quickly customise the specs of their Mac Pro according to individual need.
