Apple leaks iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 on iTunes

New iPad and iPhone models are often leaked before Tim Cook and co hit the stage at launch events, but rarely by Apple itself!

On the eve of the launch event tomorrow (October 16), the iPad iOS 8.1 user guide has appeared in iBook form. That guide features references to the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.

Both tablets, as expected will house Touch ID sensors within the Home button, but otherwise the designs will be more-or-less identical to last year’s devices.

According to the guide, the iPad Air 2 will feature the Burst Mode quick-fire photography feature that first appeared within the iPhone 5S.

The leak came, somewhat conveniently, at almost exactly the same time Google quietly revealed its new Nexus 6 phablet and Nexus 9 tablet, both running the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Apple will officially unveil the tablets tomorrow evening UK time, when it is also expected to introduce new iMacs and the final version of the Mac OS X Yosemite operating system.

Alongside the new iPads, the company is also likely to release iOS 8.1, which will bring Apple Pay into play.

We’ll be covering the event in full, so keep it locked to Trusted Reviews.
