Apple launches support page to help move from Android to iOS

Apple has launched a new page on its website aimed at helping defecting Android users to make the switch to iOS.

The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus hit shops in just a couple of days’ time, and Apple is clearly expecting an Android exodus. By adding a large screen to its flagship smartphone, it figures that the iPhone will become attractive to a whole bunch of Samsung, LG, Sony, and HTC smartphone owners.

To that end, Apple as added a page to its support website aimed specifically at lessening the potential frustration and confusion of adopting a completely new platform.

Titled quite simply “Move content from your Android phone to iPhone,” the page breaks the process down into six main areas: Mail, contacts, and calendars; Photos and videos; Music; Books and PDFs; Documents; and Apps.

These headers jump to the appropriate section in the long, simple list of tips that extends below.

As per Apple’s frequent emphasis on the power of apps – and the iOS platform’s continued dominance in that regard – there are frequent explanations of various applications that can be used to help with the transfer of accounts, photos, and the like.

Of course, transferring contacts and email these days is generally as simple as logging into an email account or social network. It’s not the torturous process it used to be.

Which is perhaps the point Apple is trying to make. As anyone who switches regularly between iOS and Android will tell you, it really isn’t much of an issue at all.
