Apple launches new iPod Touch, refreshes Nano & Shuffle

Apple has just announced the sixth-generation of its iPod Touch series, as well as colour refreshes to the Nano and Shuffle lines.

The iPod Touch is the headline update, with a number of spec improvements on offer for the company’s flagship music player.

For starters, it’s now being powered by the 64-bit A8 chip; that’s the same one that features in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

That means the new iPod Touch also benefits from an M8 motion co-processor for accurate fitness tracking.

Also featuring is an 8-megapixel iSight camera, which brings the series into line with the iPhone 6.

The new iPod Touch pricing runs as follows: 16GB (£159), 32GB (£199), 64GB (£249), and 128GB (£329).

It’s on offer in a range of new colours, namely blue, pink, silver, space grey, gold, and red – the latter is an Apple Store exclusive.

iPod Touch gives customers around the world access to Apple Music, the App Store and iOS, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, starting at just $199,” explains Greg Joswiak, Apple’s VP of mobile product marketing.

He continues: “With big advancements like the A8 chip and the 8-megapixel iSight camera, customers can experience next-level gameplay, take even more beautiful photos and enjoy their favourite music, TV shows and movies.”

The company has also refreshed its Nano and Shuffle line-ups with the same colours as the new iPod Touch, although neither product has seen spec improvements this time around.

As such, pricing also remains the same for the iPod Nano and Shuffle, marking up at £129 and £40 respectively.
