The heavily rumoured Apple Watch will not be handed a WWDC 2014 unveiling, with the annual conference instead to focus on software announcements.
With Apple’s much mooted smartwatch device being widely tipped to make an appearance later this year, latest reports have claimed WWDC will not be used as the launch platform for the Samsung Gear 2 and LG G Watch rival.
Citing unnamed sources, Re/code has claimed that the iWatch will miss a WWDC showing in favour of making its first formal appearance later in the year.
The reports stated: “Sources familiar with Apple’s plans tell Code/red that Tim Cook will not use WWDC to unveil Apple’s mythical wearable device.”
They added: “Nor will he use it to show off a new Apple TV, or even preview the new software the company is developing for it.”
With no new hardware on the cards for a WWDC 2014 showing, it is expected that Apple will use its developers conference to detail its upcoming iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 software.
It is believed that iWatch could be detailed this September, lining up alongside the all new iPhone 6 in a mobile-themed Apple launch event.
