Apple is selling a VR headset for your iPhone

It seems virtual reality is too tempting a fruit, even for Apple.

Apple is now selling a VR headset for the first time ever. The company quietly launched the device – which works the iPhone 5 and later – at a price of $29.95.

Do note, however, that Apple doesn’t manufacture this headset. It’s actually a budget creation by View Master, and works by docking a smartphone to function as the display, just like Google Cardboard.

“The View-Master Virtual Reality Viewer turns your iPhone into a portal to immersive adventures in virtual reality,” writes Apple, on the product page. “Experience a whole new level of realism as you explore and launch yourself through time and space into 360-degree views that completely surround you.”

It continues: “Completely kid-friendly, the View-Master provides a safe portal to stunning locations around the world – providing an inspiring and imaginative learning experience unlike anything you’ve seen before.”

To enjoy a VR experience, you’ll need to download a View-Master app to the iPhone.

You can then use a lever built into the headset to control the iPhone once it’s docked.
