Apple is getting into the music-video production game

Apple is actively seeking a video producer to produce content for its Apple Music platform, a company job posting has revealed.

The Cupertino firm is advertising for an experienced producer and project manager to take charge of “all music-related video projects,” 9to5Mac reports.

The listing has surfaced following a recent report from Pitchfork that claims Apple is now making music videos for artists such as M.I.A., Drake, Eminem and Pharrell Williams, all of whom are partner Apple Music artists.

The job listing reads: “We are looking for a video producer and project manager to lead across all music-related video projects for Apple Music & iTunes.

“This role is a fantastic and challenging opportunity for an individual with a video-production background with a proven track record in delivering video content projects for brands/artists/media outlets. A great opportunity for an executive producer of original content with a strong production network and history of working within the artist, media and entertainment communities.”

Today’s news comes following recent reports that Apple is also seeking to employ music producers in order to create original content for its Beats 1 radio station.

This apparent transition from music distributor to music producer is notable, given Apple’s symbiotic yet often rocky relationship with major and independent record labels.
