Apple Fails To Prevent Galaxy S3 US Launch

In the courtcase back-and-forth on patent litigation that’s been ongoing for what seems like years now, Apple has suffered its second defeat in as many weeks. After severe delay with its case against Motorola, District Judge Lucy Koh handed the fruity company another disappointment when she denied its request to ban all sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the US.

Having already surpassed iOS to become the largest smartphone OS in the world, Google’s Android shows no signs of slowing down, and there have been suggestions that Apple’s legal antics are attempts to limit the damage. For many the Galaxy S3 represents Android’s flagship (though officially that’s still kind of the Nexus). If Apple were to have been granted the ban, that would mean its largest competitor would have been effectively excluded from the majority of the American market for the duration, potentially providing the iPhone 4S with a significant boost as people in two minds would have had them made up for them.

Even so this might merely be a delay of execution, as the case hasn’t been dismissed but merely postponed. Still, by the time anything goes through Samsung will have sent out quite a few of its little quad-core phones.
