Apple has officially unveiled its new earphones, dubbed the Earpods, alongside the iPhone 5. They've been in development for three years, and should hopefully see the end of those awful Apple earbuds of old.
Apple says that their main design focus is to ensure that they fit all ear types. They have a rather unusual design, one that's part-IEM, but without the silicone tips used in those kinds of headphones. They should prove much less leaky than the standard earbuds shipped with the iPhone 4S.
The Apple Earpod headphones also feature a remote control with integrated mic for taking calls. Apple says that they have an eye on "music lovers", although they are aimed at the entry-level market. These new earphones will ship with the iPod touch, iPod nano and the iPhone 5.
They will also be available to buy separately, and will go on sale - in the US at least - from today for $29.
