Apple confirms September 10 iPhone 5S launch as invites are issued

Apple has confirmed the heavily rumoured September 10 iPhone 5S launch event, issuing press invites to its upcoming California based launch.

With the Cupertino based company having been mooted to be plotting a September 10 unveiling for its future smartphone lines, formal invites have now confirmed next Tuesday will see both the flagship iPhone 5S and the new budget iPhone 5C enter the realms of reality.

Teasing what’s to come, Apple’s invite features a selection of coloured blobs and are adorned by the simply statement: “This should brighten everyone’s day.”

Although not officially stated, it is believed that these colour swatches reference the range of hues in which the heavily leaked, plastic clad iPhone 5C will be made available. The September 10 iPhone launch event invite hints that the iPhone 5C will be made available in two shades of blue, red, pink, orange, yellow, purple and white. No reference to a black handset has been made.

Set to kick off a 10am PT (6pm BST) the September 10 iPhone launch event will be held at Apple’s Cupertino campus.

Recent iPhone 5S rumours have suggested the Samsung Galaxy S4 rival will line up as an incremental update on the existing iPhone 5.

Expected to feature the same brushed metal design as its predecessor, the iPhone 5S will reportedly boast a faster quad-core processor, improved camera optics and a selection of new, subtle colour options including graphite, gunmetal and champagne.

A more exciting prospect to some is the repeatedly leaked iPhone 5C with the phone set to mark Apple’s first move into a lower price point on the smartphone scene. It has been claimed the device will run a spec similar to that of the outgoing iPhone 5 just within a cheaper, plastic body.

Both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will run the WWDC unveiled iOS 7 operating system and it has been mooted that an iPhone 5S release date will follow the unveiling and hit retailers on September 20.
