Steve Wozniak announces Silicon Valley Comic Con

Cosplayers and tech nerds unite! Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has announced the first Silicon Valley Comic Con.

Melding tech with a traditional comic convention, the event will showcase products from various tech companies alongside the usual comic book fandom fare.

The Silicon Valley Comic Con will take place from March 18-20 in San Jose, California, with an audience of around 30,000 expected to attend.

Wozniak, who now works at a Silicon Valley startup called Primary Data, told the Associated Press: “I don’t like doing the same thing as everyone else.”

“The emotions we have for technology now are the same as we get for movies, celebrities and the whole pop culture side of our lives.”

Among the attractions will be a panel on the quantum realm and what’s being called an ‘app valley’ where tech startups will have a chance to show their wares.

Guests are set to include Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson of Back to the Future fame, as well as comic convention mainstays such as Stan Lee and William Shatner.

Tickets, which range from $25 to $99 are still available, although the event is expected to sell out quickly.

In his interview with AP, Wozniak also made his opinion on Apple known: “Apple is in great shape to innovate for the next 200 years, just with their cash.

“That buys a lot of failure. One of the things about innovation is you have to risk failure.”
