Apple has made it officially possible to use Windows 10 on your Mac.
Since 2006, the Boot Camp tool included with OS X has enabled Mac users to partition their hard drives and dual-boot into Windows.
Of course, support for new iterations of Microsoft’s rival OS have never exactly been Apple’s priority. However, the company has proved to be surprisingly snappy with its support for Windows 10.
Apple has released an update to Boot Camp that brings support for the new Windows 10 operating system only two weeks on from its release.
There’s now an Apple support page that covers the process of getting Microsoft’s OS up and running on a compatible Mac. On that last front, it also runs through a list of Macs that will work with Windows 10.
Essentially, it seems you’re safe with any Mac model from 2012 or later.
Boot Camp 6, as it’s known, supports a number of Mac features within Windows 10. This includes USB 3, USB-C (for the new MacBook), Thunderbolt, built-in SD and SDXC card slots, built-in or USB Apple SuperDrives, and of course Apple’s own keyboard, trackpad and mouse.

Of course, you’ll need an authentic copy of Windows 10 to make this work. If you’re already using Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 through your Mac, however, you can make use of Microsoft’s free upgrade offer through that.
