We already knew that Sony is keen to talk up the camera on its next flagship smartphone, but details were thin on the ground.
Fortunately, the company seemingly let slip a number of press images to Twitter, which were snapped up by tech site XperiaBlog.
As such, we’ve now been given what looks to be an early insight into the camera credentials of the rumoured Sony Xperia Z5.
The first image shows a close-up of the purported Xperia Z5 camera, which has “23MP” etched next to it. The Xperia Z3+ used a 20.7-megapixel camera, so 23-megapixel would be an upgrade.
The second image shows an apparent Xperia Z5 handset with a turquoise paintjob, resting face-down on a similarly teal-hued surface.
Unsurprisingly, the phone looks like pretty much every Xperia phone we’ve ever seen – that’s in line with Sony’s ‘omnibalance’ aesthetic.
The third image is a side-on shot of the claimed Xperia Z5, albeit in a ritzy gold hue this time around.
There are just two points to note: (1) there’s water splashed on the device, which suggests water-resistance at the very least, and possibly waterproofing, and (2) the corners are separated, which suggests they’ll be nylonised for reinforcement like previous Xperia devices.
Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t confirmed any of these details, so take this report with a pinch of salt.

Sony is going to make an announcement regarding its Xperia line-up on September 2 at the IFA Berlin tradeshow.
It’s reported that we’ll see three new phones at the event: the Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium.
