Angry Birds Star Wars coming to consoles in November

Rovio has announced that Angry Birds Star Wars will be coming to current generation consoles in October.

All consoles will be treated to the Star Wars themed version of the bird flinging game on October  29 in the US and November 1 for the rest of the world.

Catapulting onto the Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS later this year, Rovio will be adding new co-op modes for the consoles to separate the console release from the traditional mobile platform version.

“Remastered for gaming systems, Angry Birds Star Wars features all new competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, 20 exclusive new levels created just for the console game, and over 25 hours of epic gameplay”, said Rovio.

Building on the success of the Angry Birds Trilogy released for Xbox 360 with Kinect integration, PS3 with Move support and the Nintendo 3DS, Angry Birds Star Wars will also feature motion gaming compatibility.

The Angry Birds Trilogy, which combines the original Angry Birds with the Seasons and Rio titles, has already sold over one million copies worldwide.

Coming to Wii U and Nintendo Wii next month, the Angry Birds Trilogy and Angry Birds Star Wars additions to the Nintendo consoles may well give them both an additional sales boost.

Earlier this week, Rovio announced the launch of Angry Birds Star Wars 2 for mobile platforms.

Available on September 19, the app will launch with a line of 30 collectable Angry Birds Star Wars Telepods toys.

Players will be able to scan their selected toy into the game using the front-facing camera on their chosen smart device.

Players will also be able to play as the Piggies, as Angry Birds Star Wars 2 offers the option to “Join the Pork Side.”

It was revealed in May that all of the Angry Birds app titles have been download more than one billion times across all the app stores.
