Angry Birds Space was downloaded more than 10 million times in the three days following its release on 22 March.
Rovio has revealed that 10 million copies of its new game Angry Birds Space were downloaded within the first three days following the game’s launch. That’s more than 38 downloads a second, every second, over the three-day period. The figure includes downloads across iOS and Android, and was revealed on the official @AngryBirds twitter feed.
As impressive as it may sound, Angry Birds Space has some way to go before its figures start rivalling those of previous instalments. The series as a whole has netted more than 700 million downloads across all platforms.
Angry Birds Space takes the classic casual gaming blueprint of flinging birds into green pigs and grafts it into an interstellar environment. Rather than being influenced by a single, unchanging gravity field, the birds can float in and out of gravity fields, forcing players to use more thought than in previous Angry Birds games. At review, we gave the game a solid 8/10 and our Recommended seal of approval.
Angry Birds Space is available on iOS for 69p, and on Android for free. The iPad-optimised Angry Birds HD sells for £1.99.
