New Android Wear watch faces include Angry Birds and Terminator

Traditionalists are loathe to switch out their timepiece for a so-called ‘smart’ watch, but this new selection of interactive faces for Android Wear might just win one or two folks over.

A collection of 17 new watch faces arrived on the Google Play store on Monday, each bringing unique ways of brightening up the time-telling experience.

The Angry Birds Aviator theme features your favourite irate avian creatures, complete with rage-filled jaunts across the screen at certain times of the day as ‘anger’ levels build to a crescendo.

The Terminator Genisys design sees the Terminator skull turn to dust as the day goes on, leaving only those piercing red eyes when nightfall rolls around.

Other somewhat less-gimmicky options feature neat sunrise and sunset effects from Bang & Olufsen, while the Moods of Norway face brings different designs for the different times of year.

The Time Will Come watch face from Efva Attling offers some simple and elegant designs more akin to a traditional timepiece. If you’re looking for something a little more cutesie, there are Hello Kitty and Moomins-themed faces to download too.

All of the new faces can be installed individually from the Google Play store from today. 15 of the 17 are free of charge and all are compatible with both square and round-faced Android Wear devices.
