Android VR headset rumoured to launch at Google I/O
Google is planning to introduce a standalone virtual reality headset and platform called Android VR at Google I/O, according to reports on Wednesday.
Veteran tech journalist Peter Rojas, claimed that the platform will be announced at the annual conference, which kicks off next week.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Rojas said the Android VR headset will be more powerful than the Samsung Gear VR.
However, it won’t quite be up there with the Vive of the Rift, according to Rojas, who co-founded Gizmodo and Engadget.
This is not a surprise given it is reportedly a standalone headset that won’t benefit from being connected to a high-powered PC.
Instead, the headset will use mobile-grade processors according to Rojas.

In addition to today’s revelation, AndroidPolice believes, through its own sources, the Android VR headset will be accompanied by a controller.
The report also brings word from a source, claiming the internal name for Android VR is Mirage.
Will this steal the show at Google I/O next week? We’re excited to see what Google has in store.
