The popular OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones will receive no further Android updates following the launch of Android O later this year.
The company’s head of product Oliver Z says security patch updates are coming ‘for the foreseeable future’ but there’ll be no Android P release for the 2016 handsets.
In a Q&A on the company’s community forums (via 9to5 Google) he wrote: “Android O is going to be the last Android version update we’ll release for the OP3/3T.
“We’ll continue to release security patch updates for the foreseeable future, and offer support for individual application updates.”
Also on the outs after Android O is the open beta program for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. After Android O that’ll only be available to OnePlus 5 owners.

While this isn’t really a surprise, it will come as a blow to OnePlus owners who aren’t upgrading to the new and more expensive OnePlus 5.
The OnePlus 3 was released in the summer of of 2016, while the OnePlus 3T arrived just before the turn of the year.
Android O is expected to be released in the next few weeks, meaning support will be in place through summer 2018.
Earlier today it was reported Android O has been delayed somewhat, but at least the name will be confirmed soon, right?
