It’s official: Android N is Android Nougat

Google has finally revealed the nickname for the forthcoming Android N as Nougat.

The new name was announced via Snapchat, with the official Android Twitter account confirming the news shortly after.

Predictions in recent months ranged from Nutella, to Nougat, to Neapolitan, with Google giving Android fans a chance to vote for which name they preferred online.

The OS is due out later this summer and is currently on its second beta version.

New features include better multitasking, improvements to Marshamallow’s Doze feature, and of course, the new VR platform from Google: Daydream VR.

Android Nougat will also bring improvements to the notification shade and new-look folders.
