Google surprised everyone by rolling out the first developer preview of Android N on Wednesday, and we’ve been scrambling to catch up on the new features since.

Following the reveal of multi-view apps, revamped notifications and new data-saving tools, a new emergency contact feature has now been spotted.

During set-up of an Android N device, users will be prompted to input a host of information that can be accessed by anyone in an emergency situation (via Android Central).

The Emergency Information screen enables folks to add a preferred contact, as well as list any medical conditions or allergies.

Users will be able to enter their blood type, medications they’re currently taking as well their name, address and date of birth. Importantly, they can specify whether they’re organ donors.

The data users input can then be accessed by double-tapping the emergency button on a locked device.

Naturally, all of this information can be added or amended at any time in Settings.

The addition in the developer preview follows a similar feature from Apple as part of its Health platform.
