Android 5.0 Lollipop leak

Android 5.0 Lollipop could feature interface design tweaks and focus on Google Now card based notifications.

Google will shed light on the new features coming with the next Android operating system tonight, June 25 at its annual Google I/O developers’ conference.

The company hasn’t hinted as to what number or name the new Android will take, but a new report suggests it will make the leap to Android 5.0 and be called Lollipop.

The report states that the new design is going under the name “Quantum Paper” and is strongly influenced by Google Now Cards. The notification centre will present all your alerts in this way, rather than the style of previous Android iterations.

It also looks like Quick Settings will be given some tweaks, as you’ll be able to pick your Wi-Fi network from the panel, check your data usage and see how many Bluetooth devices you’ve paired with.

The design uses circular, flat icons on the traditional Android grey background, but there are red accents for toggles as a new feature, helping to distinguish them from other interactive menus.

In the notifications bar you’ll also spot that your Google Plus avatar is now sitting in the top right hand corner, letting you quickly navigate to your Google cloud.

These are potentially only a handful of new features coming with Andorid 5.0 Lollipop, due to be unveiled this evening.
