Amazon Fire 7-inch discounted to £40 to celebrate Golden Globes success

As if the 7-inch Amazon Fire tablet wasn’t already one of the best tech bargains around, the fine folks at Amazon UK have seen fit to knock a tenner off the asking price.
The entry-level device can now be grabbed for £40, compared with the insanely cheap original asking price of £50.
The 20% discount can also be used against the ad-free (or Special Offer free, as Amazon puts it) version of the tablet, which can now be picked up for just £48.
The company is also offering a hefty discount on the Amazon Fire TV box, which is now £63.99 as opposed to the original asking price of £79.99.
There’s no news yet on how long Amazon plans to offer the discount for, so you might be wise to step in quickly.

The sudden bout of generosity (via Android Central) appears to be linked to Amazon’s success in the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night.
The Globes success was a big boon for Amazon Prime Instant Video in its battle against Netflix, which led the total nominations with 8, but walked away from the ceremony empty handed.
By discounting its two chief video-playing devices, Amazon must be hoping more potential viewers will tune into its award winning shows.
