Amazon is holding a press conference in Los Angeles today, and according to The Verge, it may be used to show off the company's first phone as well as new Kindle models.
The site claims that the Amazon phone has been "confirmed", citing "multiple sources" that back this up. It will use an interface based on that of the Kindle Fire, which runs a heavily modified version of Google's Android OS.
The Amazon phone may be unveiled later today, but apparently it is nowhere near release, currently in an unfinished state. To date, we in the UK have not been top of the Kindle family priority list. The first Kindle Fire never made it to the UK, and neither did the ad-funded Kindle models. We may get the same treatment with the Amazon phone.
However, now that the Amazon Appstore has launched in the UK, we are likely to get the next Kindle Fire Tablet. It'll reportedly come in two flavours - 7in and 10in - and feature an upgraded processor. On the other side of the Amazon roster, the new E-ink Kindle "Paperwhite" model is rumoured to feature a higher-resolution, higher-contrast screen than the Kindle Touch, and have a darker bezel.
We'll be back with all the latest Amazon Kindle news as it's unveiled.
