Alleged LG G4 images leak

LG G4

Images of LG's next flagship, the LG G4, appear to have leaked online.

The status of LG's next flagship has fluctuated throughout 2015, with various conflicting reports of the device's eventual name, design, size, and specs.

One XDA Developers forum member thinks that they have a handle on the phone, though. User s3rv1cet3ch has posted a number of photos of a device that is claimed to be the LG G4.

As you can see, the back of the phone looks quite similar to the LG G3, with a familiar rounded design and those distinctively placed rear-mounted power and volume buttons. The shape and positioning of the speaker, flash, and laser AF emitter are identical, too.

However the camera element itself is subtly different, with a square shape in place of the LG G3's circular one. The power button itself is more squashed than its predecessor's.

One other interesting detail to be gleaned from the rear of the device is what looks like a pull-out element at the top left, which the poster claims is a stylus. However, as Android Central points out, it could quite easily be the TV antenna that comes with phones in the Korean market.

There's not too much to be gleaned from the front of the supposed LG G4, which also looks similar to the LG G3, other than the fact that it is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

What the image doesn't appear to show is any sign of the LG G4's rumoured curved display, but that could simply be down to the angle (or lack thereof) the phone is being held at.

One hint that this might not actually be the LG G4 can be seen in the baseband version number. "M8936" could suggest that the phone is running on the Snapdragon 610 CPU, which is a modern but decidedly mid-range component.

Of course, this could just be a temporary power unit for a pre-release device while LG gets the expected Snapdragon 810 (which is known to be a little problematic) sorted.
