All PS4 games will be compatible with the PS Vita through remote play in the future, in line with consumer’s growing demand for portable content, Sony has suggested.

Speaking at the New York based launch of the Sony PS4, the Japanese manufacturer has suggested that whilst only certain PS4 games will host Vita functionality at launch, the company is targeting a point where ever PS4 game released offers gamers the option to play on-the-move via the newly introduced remote play.

“Our long-term goal is to make every PlayStation 4 title playable on the Vita,” Sony’s lead PlayStation developer Mark Cerny stated when demoing the company’s new PS3 replacement. "We believe so much in remote play that it's been built into the architecture of PlayStation 4.The answer is PlayStation Vita."

With established franchises such as the likes of Street Fighter and Killzone already confirmed for the PS4 alongside new titles such as Knack, Sony has revealed that through new remote play feature, avid gamers will be able to use their PS Vita consoles to access elements of their formerly console-locked games.

"We're meeting the demand for mobility with the most powerful portable gaming system we've ever created,” Cerny said. “PlayStation 4 will unleash imagination while also allowing developers to explore new business models.”

Andrew House, Sony’s head of PlayStation added: "We painted a picture of the future that would revolutionize not just the console, but would have implications across the entire portfolio. Today we will give you a glimpse into the future of play."

Suggesting that PS Vita based access to PS4 content is “designed to make accessing the content gamers like easier than ever,” and offer “the most personalized gaming experience today," House has claimed that portable gaming options have become an expectation of the ever evolving gaming market.

“We must give gamers the kind of multi-dimensional experiences they not only expect, but quite frankly deserve,” he said.
Following months of repeated rumours and speculation, the Sony PS4 has been officially unveiled with the expected Xbox 720 rival set to land with a PC based architecture that will see an x86 CPU paired with a PC grade GPU and 8GB of RAM.

Whilst Sony has suggested that all PS4 games will one day be compatible with the company’s Vita console, the manufacturer has revealed that the PS4 will not be natively compatible with existing PS3 titles, a disappointing move that is sure to anger many.
