Bungie will unlock some of Destiny: The Taken King’s PVP content for Destiny players to try out next week.
Bungie has announced plans to unlock the player versus maps and modes for its new Destiny expansion, The Taken King, for all Destiny players next week.
This content will be unlocked as part of Destiny’s “Crucible Preview Event,” which will take place from September 8th to the 14th, the developer announced in their Bungie Weekly Update.
The preview event will allow all Destiny players to experience the new modes Rift and Mayhem, without having to fork out for the upcoming expansion.
A total of eight new maps will be playable during the event, but there is a catch if you choose to participate.
You will not be able to access any of the new super abilities that will ship with the full version of The Taken King.
These abilities can only be obtained by paying a visit to your local Vanguard once the full expansion launches.

In other Destiny related news, major update 2.0 is set to go live on September 8.
Be sure to have around 18GB of space free on your hard drive if you’re playing on PS4 or Xbox One to install the patch.
The update will increase the player level cap to 34, but keep in mind that The Taken King will bump that up to 40.
You will now be able to level up on experience points alone, insteading of hunting down specific gear to push yourself past level 20.
Check out full details on the upcoming patch on Bungie’s website.
The Taken King expansion will launch on September 15 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 as both a physical release and digital download.
