Aliens: Colonial Marines tops UK All Format Gaming Chart

Aliens: Colonial Marines has topped the UK All Format Gaming Chart, taking top honours just days after being made available for purchase.

Available for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, the SEGA published title has debuted at number 1, becoming the biggest gaming release of the year to date, a mantle previously held by last week’s chart topper, EA’s Dead Space 3.

With Aliens: Colonial Marines securing top spot for the week ending February 16, former chart topper Dead Space 3 has dropped to second following a 57 per cent slump in sales whilst fellow EA title, FIFA 13 has once again maintaining its footing in the podium positions in third place.

With both Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Far Cry 3 dropping one spot to end the week fourth and fifth in the UK All Format Gaming Chart respectively, Assassin’s Creed 3 has recorded a hefty 50 per cent week-on-week rise in sales, led by price promotions and half term sales hikes, jumping six spots to finish the past seven days in sixth.

Whilst the following two chart positions see Need for Speed Most Wanted and Just Dance 4 line up as none movers in seventh and eighth respectively, Sonic and All Starts Racing Transformed has secured SEGA a second title in the week’s top ten, ending the week in ninth.

Rounding out the week’s top ten, 343 Industries has seen its first Halo title shoot back up the charts on the back of strong pricing deals, jumping three spots to secure tenth position.

Despite being a week of few new releases, former chart topper Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has failed to maintain its footing in the UK All Format Gaming Chart with week-on-week sales dropping a hefty 59 per cent to see the title slip all the way down to 25th in the sales charts.
