Adidas miCoach Fit Smart to be next fitness tracker?

Adidas is preparing to launch a brand new fitness tracker called the Adidas miCoach Fit Smart according to a new FCC leak.

The FCC, LegalForce and online retailer Keller Sports have all leaked images and details of the upcoming Adidas miCoach Smart Run follow-on.

Unlike the Smart Run and its colour LCD display, this Fit Smart features a LED dot display not unlike that found in the Nike Fuelband SE. There’s even some kind of progress tracking light system down the right hand side.

There are two buttons at the top and bottom of the screen for accessing the various featured offered by the miCoach Fit Smart, the majority of which still remain unknown. There’s also a larger oblong button at the centre bottom of the screen, which will presumably act as a home button.

It looks to retain the watch-style design though, but introduces a new quick lock strap that looks a little more stylish than before.

The in-built heart rate monitor is still there, with the green sensor clearly visible on the underside of the Fit Smart’s watch face.

The timing of this leak is quite interesting, as Adidas was named as one of the partners for the Google Fit launch announced at last night’s Google I/O Keynote.

That means the Adidas miCoach Fit Smart data could then be fed into the Google Fit open health platform on your smartphone and tablet, pairing via Bluetooth 4.0 LE (which has been confirmed by the FCC filing).

This upcoming gadget is also the first in the miCoach series to have “Fit” in the name, which also suggests it will be part of the Google Fit line-up.

There’s no word as to when Adidas will officially launch the miCoach Fit Smart, but these leaks hint that it may be just around the corner.
