AAXA Technologies has launched the P300, a tiny pico projector designed for portability and affordability. The company describes it as “the world’s brightest battery-powered pico projector”.

The P300, which can be pre-ordered for just $419 in the US (around £260), offers a native resolution of 1280 x 800 (although it can accept a 1080p signal), USB, VGA and HDMI ports, composite video input, a microSD slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. And all that in a device that weighs only 590g and measures 150 x 97 x 38mm.

It’s small, but there’s another nod to portability in the fact that it sports a built-in battery. The P300 can run for around 75 minutes from a full charge, although it won’t offer quite as much brightness in its image: 160 lumens as opposed to 300 when running from the mains. It uses triple RGB LED bulbs to provide its image, and AAXA claims these will last for 15,000 hours. It can create an image up to 120 inches across.

The USB port and microSD slot allow the P300 to play back media including MP4, WMV and AVI videos and MP3, OGG and WAV audio files, while an optional adapter allows users to hook up an iPod for video and audio playback.

The AAXA P300 will be on sale in the US on October 26th.
