Zepto Quad Core Gaming Notebook To Launch Next Year

We've grown quite fond of Zepto's notebooks over the past months. They may not offer performance to rival, say, Rock's Xtreme T7800-8800, but examples such as the Znote 6625WD didn't disappoint. Notably, Zepto is different from the likes of Rock, Dell and Evesham in that it builds its own chassis for its systems, rather than re-branding those of companies like Clevo. The long and short of this is that Zepto can churn out new systems without having to wait on someone else designing a case to chuck components into. This is useful as it makes Zepto the first manufacturer to announce that it will be using Intel's mobile quad core CPUs in models available nest year.

Unfortunately specs are a little thin on the ground; by which I mean near non-existent. All we know is that Zeopto claims this will be the ‘thinnest and lightest 17in notebook' ever and that it'll weigh about 3.4Kg. Luckily Intel's leaked roadmaps tell us what Zepto presumably can't. For example, we already know that mobile quad core systems will be built on Montevina, the successor to Santa Rosa, and unless nVidia gets its 9000-series out the door it's almost certainly safe to assume an 8800M GT will make the bill - maybe even two in SLI?

Considering a high end dual core gaming notebook can cost upwards of three grand, Zepto's quad core systems will probably carry the time-old price tag of ‘if you have to ask you can't afford it' but nonetheless, if you really must play Crysis during your board meetings, under the pretence of taking notes of course, then you're going to be mighty tempted come April when the products launch. Hopefully we'll be able to get a system in for review around that time.
