For the second time today, a fallen giant Internet brand has announced a major facelift.
Following Myspace revealing a new look earlier today, Yahoo! has launched a revised and updated version of Yahoo! Mail, with social media as its focus.
The beta of Yahoo! Mail, which is available now, integrates Facebook and Twitter into the inbox, enabling users to post status updates without having to leave Yahoo!
You can also now access YahooI Messenger from the mail interface, and send SMS messages too. Flickr, Picassa and YouTube videos are also visible from within emails.
Yahoo! said Mail was now twice as fast as the older version thanks to its Yahoo! Cloud back-end, and that searching has been enhanced. It said that that it had the strongest spam protection available and also offers unlimited storage, compared to Gmail’s free 7GB.
Sensibly, Yahoo! said the new Mail interface was now consistent, whether it was accessed from the desktop, on Android, or on iOS devices.
Yahoo Mail! Beta is available now as an opt-in service and users can try it out or stay with the old interface if all this change is too much to handle in one go.
