For those not convinced Virgin's 20Mbit cable broadband isn't fast enough for their needs (we hear you P2P-ers) then hope for your HD Usenet download needs is on the horizon: 50Mbit trials.
Despite takeover speculation and the sale of its Megastores Virgin is pushing ahead with its DSL speed busting antics and if you live in one of the previous unconsidered IT havens of Ashford, Dover or Folkestone you're in luck.
Ashford is the furthest forward of the three with the trial in 'Phase 2' meaning all customers in the area can have the service for £47pm (£10pm extra over the 20Mbps service), Dover is still at the free stage while Folkestone residents get it free until the start of October before also being charged £47pm.
Now if Virgin can quickly call this a success and start hitting hillbilly backwaters like Central London we'll all be happy.
A sign-up link for Ashford, Dover and Folkestone is below and if you happen to be based in one of these networking metropolis' and are happy setting the connection up yourself I suggest you click it pronto.
DSL - over to you.
