Whether you want to watch Jean-Luc Goddard’s sublime Breathless or François Truffaut’s imperious Jules et Jim this Christmas, Virgin Media has announced two months free subscription to celebrate the French culture channel, Cinémoi, coming to its platform.
All Virgin Media digital TV customers will be able to enjoy the new channel for free throughout December and January with over 40 movies to enjoy. Cinémoi is the first and only TV channel dedicated to French cinema. Produced specially for a UK audience, Cinémoi offers many films which have never been seen outside of France before. For those who don’t speak French every film is subtitled so film fans will be able to enjoy the best of French film and TV with ease. Cinémoi broadcasts 12 hours a day from 3pm to 3am.
Former BBC film show presenter, Jonathan Ross was effusive in his praise for the channel: “I watch more movies on Cinémoi than on any other film channel. I love the mix of contemporary commercial French cinema as well as the classics they show on a regular basis.” Michael Caine however, was a little more guarded about his love for all things French: “I watch it all the time now”.
All Virgin Media digital TV customers will be able to get Cinémoi from tomorrow, December 1st through to January 31st, 2011 for absolutely nothing. During this promotional period, Virgin Media customers who chose to include Cinémoi in their package will benefit from a reduced subscription of £5.99 per month throughout 2011, otherwise £6.99 per month if customers sign up from 1st February 2011.
In related news Virgin Media has partnered with one of the UK’s major house builders, Persimmon Homes, to bring new home buyers the benefits of a fully-connected digital home. Selected Persimmon new build homes in cabled areas will start to be constructed with built-in access to Virgin Media’s fibre optic broadband, TV, and telephone services, ready from the minute the buyers move in. Customers moving to non-cabled areas will have the option of Virgin Media’s National service delivering up to 20Mb broadband over telephone lines.
