ViewSonic Sets The Pulses Racing

I like my monitors like I don’t like my women: enormous, wide and hard to read (ie, super high resolutions). In fact, fulfil my criteria in both areas and I’ll be somewhere close to Heaven.

So sweetly singing me up half way up to St Peter’s Gates today is ViewSonic with its first ever 23in widescreen LCD monitor. ViewSonic has chosen to call this beauty the VP231wb, but unfortunately for it I have a policy of renaming all sexy products unsexily named with something more appropriate, and my name of choice today is Eva.

Eva immediately sets the pulses racing with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 and a high contrast ratio of 500:1. Being the perfect partner, Eva will have no problem sitting through frantic gaming or action movies given her nimble 16ms (typically) and 12ms (grey to grey) response times and consequently she just loves HDTV broadcasts.

Given the amount of real estate she displays, it is likely that at some point you will want to gather a few mates round to ogle at something on Eva. She doesn’t disappoint in this regard either as she manages to look good from up to 176 degrees horizontally and 176 degrees vertically.

Should Eva’s dimensions not be quite to your liking she can be made 11cm shorter or taller and can bend over 90 degrees into portrait format. You’ll be able to plug into Eva via either analogue (D-Sub) or digital (DVI-I with HDCPP) inputs and a miniscule 22mm bezel means little covers up Eva’s goodies.

Eva is light on her toes at just 9Kg (6Kg without the stand, should you decide she deserves pride of place on a wall somewhere) and four USB2.0 ports of her own shows she is happy to give as well as receive.

Naturally, the price for such as exclusive model is not for the fainthearted at £1,399 including VAT, but many beauties have cleared out my wallet in the past only to be worthless a few years later and that won’t stop me investing again.

Eva is walking the streets now, should you wish to pick her up.

Note:
Sexy Minx Eva is a modified version of the VP231wb we reviewed back in September. The main difference when you lay Eva One alongside Eva Two (hubba hubba!) is the pivotting display. That said, Eva Two is now available in far higher quantities than Eva One was, so it looks like we can all get our little piece of Heaven now!
