UK Xbox 360 Price Cut Hits Friday

UK Xbox 360 Price Cut Hits Friday

Say what you like about Microsoft, it gets it right every now and again. And this Friday will be one of those times because the UK is also seeing the price cut already announced in Japan and the US. Yes, the same one Woolworths leaked already.

The all-important figures, then, will see the hard drive-less Xbox 360 Arcade hit £129.99, the 60GB Xbox 360 sitting at £169.99 and the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite at £229.99. Interestingly that puts UK pricing exactly in line with "US to UK plus VAT" prices - a rare occurrence indeed. Kudos, then, to Microsoft for that one!

It seems likely that these will be the last reductions the consoles are likely to see for a while. It's hard to imagine Microsoft's bottom line being done any favours by these rock-bottom prices - even if selling more consoles does also presumably mean selling more games.

Frankly, though, as consumers ourselves we don't care how much of a loss Microsoft is making by lowering the price of the 360 once again. We're just pleased to see the console getting even cheaper.

Roll on Friday!

I seem to recall that the limited edition Halo console was the first 360 to feature the new, cooler running hardware. Does anyone know if this hardware is now added to other/all Xbox 360s? If so, how do you know?

If my 'box goes pop again (and hey, it's possible!) I'd like to try one of the cooler options, but TBH the Halo one looks god-awful with that grey and orange design....

yeah, I'm waiting for the new xbox hardware before I want to purchase one. The so called 'Jasper' release with 65nm GPU was slated for August, but still no sign of them.

Could it be that MS are losing out on sales to Sony's PS3, despite what they keep telling us? This price cut makes the XB360 significantly cheaper than the PS3. Difficult to know cause and effect in these things. I'd predict a price cut from Sony before XMAS.
