UK Release For Apple 'iTunes U'

Like many of Apple's launches we tend to wait a long time over in Blighty for what those lucky Yanks regularly get spoon fed, but when they do arrive is it not all the sweeter?

Honestly, no - but we do at least now have 'iTunes U', an upgrade to the iTunes store which sees educational university content added just as if it were the latest album or TV show.

Consequently students - or in fact anyone seeking to challenge their grey matter - can surf and search through iTunes (an iTunes U filter is available) to find courses on everything from physics to poetry and the University College London, Trinity College Dublin and Open University (naturally) are the first partners.

Obviously studying up on a course not running at your actual university probably isn't the brightest of ideas (You thought it was? How did you get there in the first place? Studying History of Art?) but Apple says many more institutions will join over the coming months.

Both audio and video content will be available and the lectures can be accessed just as you would tracks through iTunes or via an iPod, though I'd suggest on this occasion if you do want to pass you keep your Shuffle in your pocket...
