TrustedReviews Persists As Hitwise Number One

At TrustedReviews our guiding principle has always been to create the most authoritative technology review site on the Internet and we're proud to say that you, our readers, seem to agree. It's with thanks to you that we've acquired our placement at the top of the 2009 Hitwise Computers and Internet - Electronics category for the second year running.

We also managed a credible Second Place in the News & Media - IT Media category, pipped by our friends at The Register

The awards are painstakingly audited using anonimised ISP data from some 8 million internet users UK-wide, and cover all manner of categories including Sport, Entertainment, Health and Travel websites. You can view the Top 10 winners from all these categories on the Hitwise 2009 Awards microsite.

This award reinforces the stellar year we had in 2009, reaching record traffic figures of 2.7 million unique users, reading 13.8 million page views every month, independently audited by ABCe (PDF warning). And we have you, our readers, to thank for this success.

Editor Cliff Jones commented: “This award pays tribute to the hard work put in by team here at TrustedReviews. The editorial staff and our wider network of contributors have worked tirelessly over the year to produce the best reviews site in the personal technology market. Throughout 2010 we will continue to provide informed, independent advice, and first-rate journalism to an increasingly discerning audience.”

In other words we're not resting on our laurels: work continues on new features like the TrustedReviews Podcast and a few top-secret projects. If there is anything you'd like to see from us in 2010 and beyond, please post your ideas below.

Well congrats, folks! You deserve the award; with no close competitors you're my prefered tech news and reviews site, and the only one I converse on regularly. Looking forward to your upcoming enhancements - hopefully inclusive of better user account management, pushing of the forums, and an increase in games reviews ;-)

Well done TR. Keep up the great work!

That's fantastic news, I'm genuinely pleased for you chaps and it's certainly richly deserved.

The only thing I'd change is the search function for previous reviews, a more detailed engine to find more exact matches would be helpful.

Otherwise, I really can't remember how I survived without TR. My last 4 phones, 2 TVs, amplifier and speaker system were all bought as a direct result of Trusted recommendation. You're my first and often last source of information when looking to buy, and clearly I'm not the only one who can say that.

Congratulations again, whoop!

Congratulation!!! I've actually stumbled upon this website few years back while doing some research on my next cellphone and ever since I've been a regular visitor. Love your reviews and love the tech news articles even better. Keep up the good job. Cheers!

Great news. I love this site, it's been on my everyday hit list for a few years now. I just hope the term 'unique users' doesn't mean 'super geeks'!

Congratulations.

Well done all.

As for future features, I'd like to see "Top Five" recommended category lists.

Well done and its certainly deserved.

I look forward to improvements like;not having to log in every single time you visit the site to comment. Must be a tough nut to crack that ;)

Thanks everyone. Always useful to hear your thoughts.

Specifically:

Tabasco - We have a competition coming up very soon.

Tony - We have a "top of the range" article about TVs coming up in a couple of weeks. We also ran a feature about some of the best iPhone apps and we have an Android version hot on its heels.

Cub - Stay tuned for next week's podcast as part of our enhancements.

Everyone else - Watch this space. Thanks for your support!

Well done guys.

There is no other site that can provide the same level of expertise and detail in the reviews - I have purchased many products based your guidance.

The news is always top notch and stops me from having to sift through meaningless dribble with the occasional worthwhile article like many other tech sites appeared to have adopted in order to keep up their post rate.

A raise of the glass to all TR staff.

Congratulations guys, you've done an outstanding job on the site. I've said it before but it bears repeating, I'm not even in the UK and there are lots of sites that are more 'relevant' if you will to where I live (Canada) but I still get a lot out of coming here and reading all the reviews and news.

And since you're taking suggestions:

1. Threaded comments would be VERY helpful.

2. Bigger comment box.

3. More 'Lists" like you did for the iPhone apps. Like for browser extensions and whatnot.

4. Speaking of which, why doesn't TR review browsers or even anti virus software?

5. Would love to see a video version of your podcast.

And that would be it for me. Keep up the good work guys.

Congrats, but can you put some input lag info in your TV reviews ?

I'm an avid gamer for last 30 odd years and invest in it still, so would love to read those figures.

Great news! Well done, team Trusted Reviews!

I have no real gripes but I do have one suggestion: I have asked this before, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this would be useful: Please run a guide to home cinema. Its a very technical area, and a guide would help understanding the reviews you run in this area.

Otherwise, keep up the good work.

Just another regular visitor who wanted to say Congratulations :)

I think where Trusted Reviews gets it right, and is fairly unique, is that the length of the articles is just right. Not too long or too short like some tech sites, and with the right amount of technical information. Not forgetting the excellent writers who make it possible. You expect a certain quality of article from TR, and it never disappoints.

Well said to all commentators so far really - good work TR, I've been reading your site for a long time now. Pretty much come in daily too. Do I get an award? ;)

OK. I visit TR everyday. It's a business, good PR, but just get on with it.

Well done TR!

I just posted this on another article but i want a mobile TR site! Something like Ars Technica would be perfect.

Also would love to see more editorials and opinion pieces on topical issues. Something like Gamesindustry.biz do every week with their column by Rob Fahey.

Well done guys, well deserved. I've been using TR for years now and it remains one of my fav sites. Like others, I'd like to see a top5/top10 devices in each category, although that might be a challenge to keep uptodate, especially in areas like cameras that move very fast.
